Janlea Summarization Convention for 2008 was held in its headquarter in Beijing on Jan 16-17, 2009. The executive director of Janlea, i.e. Zhuge Beihua, summarized the development of Janlea’s various businesses in 2008. On the whole, 2008 has witnessed the steady increase of Janlea’s all businesses. In all, Janlea has handled 13278 intellectual property agency businesses in 2008, which is 4%, i.e. 569 more than last years. With regards to business type, Anti-Counterfeiting Department undertook 19% more investigation and prosecution activities and the number of cases with effective investigations increased by 45%; cases involving customs rose by 32%; cases involving copyright and domain name in Legal Apartment grew by 263%; cases involving trademark opposition and review & adjudication increased by 49% and litigation cases by 125%.

In 2008, Janlea Patent’s volume of business also expanded tremendously. In all, Janlea Patent accepted 543 applications including 103 applications for a patent for invention, 125 applications for a patent for utility model, 227 applications for application for a patent for design, 46 PCT and other 47 applications, which is 28.6% more than the last year.

Facing the great impact on intellectual property industry from global financial crisis in 2009, Mr. Zhuge requested all the employees of Janela to prepare themselves psychologically with adjusted work, exert their features and advantages and maintain existing customers more carefully and develop new customers more aggressively with the principle of “To take customers’ satisfaction as the ultimate objective based on their needs” so that further progress can be made in 2009.
