30th anniversary of the issue of China's Patent Law Symposium was held in Beijing's Great Hall on March 25, 2013. Chen Zhu, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, attended the meeting and made an important speech. Chen Zhu pointed out that fully aware should be given to the important role of Patent Law in the service of national economic and social development. Implementation of Patent Law must be integrated into the national innovation system. The advantages of the patent system should be further brought into play so that patent work effectively serve the inner needs for building an innovative country to improve the country's international competitiveness.
Chen Zhu stressed in his speech that the Patent Law have been providing a strong legal protection for attracting foreign investment and advanced technology, motivating talents into technological innovation activities for 30 years. He stressed that the protection of the legal rights of patent holders should be strengthened and enthusiasm for innovation of market players should be excited by building long-term mechanism of law enforcement and judicial reform. Meanwhile, the supervision of the law should be strengthened, legislative research should be noticed, and the patent system should be improved.
Shen Changyu, SIPO Commissioner, attended the meeting and spoke. Ren Maodong of deputy director of the NPC Education and Health Committee, Lang Sheng of deputy director of the NPC Law Committee, and Tao Kaiyuan of vice president of the Supreme Court attended the meeting.
The symposium was organized by the China Intellectual Property Society. Tian Lipu, Intellectual Property Research director, made a speech. The symposium was presided over by Gan Shaoning, deputy director of the State Intellectual Property Office.
Nearly 100 people attended the symposium including some members of the drafting group of the Patent Law, representatives of academic circles of intellectual property rights, and representatives of enterprises, universities, research institutes and patent agency.
